I
n
fact, PLA stands for both "Persian Linguistics Association" and "Persian Language Acquisition/Teaching" and its Persian equivalent is also the same: AZF both stands for "Anjoman e Zabánscenási e Fársi" and "Ámuzesc e Zabán e Fársi" respectively with the same meaning as their English equivalents.

PLA was founded in Spring 2002 by personal funding and as a personal project. Later on, some other scholars, especially those living in the USA who were interested in the project and idea joined the cause. This helped PLA get registered as one of American scientific societies and associations as well. PLA projects are mainly aimed at promoting Persian language.

Thus, after many years of research and study on different writing systems and alphabets, Dr. Moslehi has developed and utilized a special Latin-based alphabet which is recently called IPA2 (International Persian Alphabet) to show some aspects of the main purpose behind its development. (to know more about IPA2, click here.)

In autumn 2002, the PLA secretariats were inaugurated in Iran and the USA in order to expand PLA contact range with more other people and to help promote and improve its structure by public funding and donations; and this has been only due to the hugeness and difficulty of the task whose progress could not be achieved by just a few people's support.

In order to help PLA with its tasks, you may wish to voluntarily become a part of the Teaching Staff. (click here to e-mail our PLATS department!)
